I purchased a head gasket and it came all fiber no fire ring , no copper just a thick sheet has anyone ever used one like this ? The tractor is .045 over M&W' s .

I wouldn't use it. I had one like that for my D in an aftermarket gasket set. The head had been re-surfaced and I checked the block for flatness before using it. It failed in about 20 hours of operation. The gasket failed and leaked water into the cylinders. I replaced it with a gasket from John Deere that had metal on both sides, no more problems.

Olson's gaskets Inc . Port orchard wa . I would take a picture but it's out in the shed for now . I'm gonna call them tomorrow . When I first called all he asked was if it was a big bore . It looks strong just no fire ring . Maybe it's in the box ?

Maybe he can put a fire ring in it. I know Molina Gaskets in California can. He use to make big bore gaskets for me back in the 1980's & 90's. I will see if I can come up with a ph. #

I never heard of such a thing ? Every head gasket for everything I ever worked on at least had a metal fire ring around the cyl. bore openings.

I just checked my Felpro set # FS 7380S, I bought 2 weeks ago on ebay. It has a nice OE steel on both sides crimped fire ring. The complete overhaul set cost $103.97 & free shipping out of the Summit warehouse Tallmadge,Ohio Why they have JD gasket sets I can't explain, They have 2 left. Molina Gasket in Torrance Ca. ph. number is 310-539-1883

I'm not too far from Summit Racing. There is a good bit of tractor pulling (hot rodding) around here so maybe someone at Summit got bit by the 2 cyl. bug ?
