I just wanted to post these pix so maybe someone could find them if they wanted to do a alternator conversion on there 1010. Conversion went well I used the original wiring harness with a few modifications. This was a rare case I set out to save the gen but it keep giving issues... I don't know how the regulator is suppose to be mounted but this one was mounted upside down and full of water/rust  No wonder they did not last long.... This is a 63 I think... Its a 4 wire set up Cuzz a dedicated ground should be added :) BTW the belt is a napa 25-7430. The alt sets nice and tight...

Next I need to talk him into a new battery and get rid of this used car lot beside of the hot dog stand refurbished #35 special.

When converting to an alternator, the original generator wiring harness is usually too light to carry the increased amperage. On harnesses that we build for alternator conversions, we use 8 gauge wire or two 10 gauge wires for the alternator "BAT" lead, if the alternator will put out more than 42 amperes.

I agree in this case its just one extra wire that needs to be run. BTW its got a automotive style switch with acc do these tractors have are use a safety neutral switch if they do I don't see it...

(quoted from post at 23:31:39 08/07/15) Good looking job!! That's what I plan on doing to my 2010.

Thanks, I could not find a good pix are a decent conversion bracket on the net are here. I fiddled around for a couple hr. with other brackets till I decided to cut the plate and go from there... Is a 2010 mounted the same if so I could fill you in on the little details to mount it up... BTW I did run a 10ga wire from the alt bat stud to the bat starter post...

Nice work! I see from your first two pics to the later ones you
added a sleeve to the lower bolt back to what looks like the
original generator bracket. Is that the original generator sleeve?
Sure looks like it would add stability.

Nope not original its 1/4" black pipe 6" long. I cut the threads off the pipe its 4 1/2" and drilled it out to 29/64 and used a 7" bolt.

The spacer on the top of the bracket is a piston pin out of sum'N I picked up its a hard MF'er I burned up a carbide bit turning it down

Yep it stable as stable as it every was...
