what color should the gauge face be. I have read black but was thinking they should be white to be original.

Take a look at the gauges on "52" our 52 Model A.

They were white from the factory

White was the originals and now you can get repros.

Deere discontinued the white ones and subbed them to the black ones many many years ago that was as good as you could get until the repros came out.

Many of my tractors have the black faced ones in them because of this. They were redone before all the aftermarket parts came out.

The Gage went black a 700200. The repos are nice but are not EXACT. There are still working origs around if you look hard enough.

My '52 is above the serial number you listed and they are white. It is a one owner tractor(grandfather bought new) gauges are all original.

ou must be thinking about the water pump. Green Mag. had an article that talked about this. They said the change was to take place with the new numbered series. A few A's got Black and some even got mixed White and Black at the end of the production run when they ran out of White. The 60 production run began about one month before the A production ended.
