I am looking at a late 1952 A that has a larger box similar to an A or 50. Did that come out as a factory install. or would this be a conversion to 12 volt using the larger battery box.

52A,s among others earlier, came FACT large box 2 6 volt battery's making 12 volts. Basically the 50-60- and70gas same as. Where as the early A,s and all late B,s had 1, 6 volt.

A late A should have a large battery box. Big enough to hold 2 6v group 1 batteries in series.

Your first post said late "A", now you say late "B", I suspect a typo. Late "B' tractors had a small battery box for a 6 volt battery, BUT there was an option for a heavy duty electrical system with a big battery box. I have never seen one and don't know if I have the terms correct.

Sorry guys, had a brain freeze. I knew about the A's and I meant to say late B and now it makes sense.

And the conversion kit was number AB4293R which was a modified "A" battery box to hold 2 six volt batteries wired in parallel for more cranking power in extremely cold staring conditions.
