Wondering if someone could tell me how many bearings what the part no.are for the worm gear end of the steering wheel shaft? Just got this tractor and lots of slop in the steering, took top cover off looked like their was a bearing or two missing, called jd dealer parts man said its only take one bearing on that shaft so they sent me the bearing and a race for it.problem is the bearing looks the right size for the shaft but the race is way to large for the bearing! have not taken tractor apart yet, was hopeing to have new parts on hand to go right in. Any one know? Thanks for any help! stay safe! and happy tractoring!

The front end of the steering shaft has 2 identical bearings and cups (what you call a race). One bearing/cup is behind the worm gear and the other one is the one you're looking at.

The bearing is JD7396R and the cup is JD7419R.
Are these what your dealer sent you?

The front cup is a press fit in the front cap.

Thanks for the reply Pete. The parts they sent me are jd7364 tapered roller bearing and jd 7253 bearing cup. they sent only one set and the bearing will fit right through the bearing cup so I thought they didnt seem right! Well I will have to drive to the dealers instead of another phone order! Thanks again!

The JD 7253 cup is for a Model A. Don't know where the JD7364 bearing is used.

When you go to the dealer use the p/n's I gave you. Both pieces are expensive so you ought to check the condition of the 2 cups. They might still be serviceable which will save some money.

Just noticed a note I put in my parts catalog. Years ago I got the bearing At NAPA. It was a Timken 11-BC.
