As Cliff stated all 30's were 12 volt if 2 12's hook them in parallel, positive to positive,,if it has 2 6 volt's hook them series ,...about once a year I get one in here that is hooked up 24 volt, they spin "way" to good, and the head lights blow out. This usually happens when they have 2 6's in them,,the customer goes to the Napa store with the bad battery's and asks for 2 new ones,,the long haired counter guy with 5 ear rings gives him 2 "12 volt's" ( they look the same)and the customer goes home and puts them back in the way he took them out,,not realizing he just set it up for 24 volts .

JD diesel RC tractors changed to 12V in '69. General rule is if the tractor has an alternator it is 12 volts but there were a few exceptions in the older cab/ac equipped tractors.

Hook them in parallel. All 30 series and newer are 12 volt.
