2640 hyd

you just never know what you well come across. any way guy bring his 2640 in with 148 loader power beyond joy stick . want steering fixed pto not right two speed not working. loader doing the two step shackie quivers. so figure transmission pump so split tractor couple line have small holes in them to pto replace them all the fiber plates facing off them in pto and two speed one are shot also. fix all that replace couple line on the pressure side of pump and the return and pump supply have been crushed so figure that should take care of loader problems. put ol tractor back together replace tie rod ends tighten up the drag arm on steering still to much play so pull the front end out from under it replace bushing and bell crank takes care of steering problem reinstall loader and dam thing still doing two step.. dam now i getting p[i so sat i pull it back in shop pull pump tear it down no bad pistons or broken valves replace stroke control valve . reinstall decide two put line in pump and and oil cooler line see just how transmission pump is pumping has good flow i looking at oil coming at the one line into bucket just don't seem right, got to thinking when i first took off reservoir it was full of oil loaded still did two step but it had pressure on it just didn't seem right, so it about time for coffee do some reading . i found the problem the first owner of this tractor was blind in one eye and couldn't see out the other and i not kidding about that, he fix any thing,, he had crushed the inlet line and the return so had took them off to weld up. and when he reinstalled them he switch them,, oil was coming from bottom of oil cooler in to reservoir then in to top of pump then into intake line back to transmission housing but the intake has a check valve so next to no oil was returning, it work steering and 3pt but loader just sorta so one just never knows what you well find. switch them back and loader works like new,
