I have replaced the seal on the rockshaft control lever of my Deere M before but it still has a chronic leak. This is a fiber seal and my thought is to replace it with an o-ring instead. I was thinking of a -309 size o-ring but believe that it would be way too tight and the next smaller would be too loose. I also considered a regular lip seal but cannot locate one with the required 7/16 ID x 3/4 OD size. Has anyone else replaced this seal with something different?
Thanks in advance.

This is where mine is leaking as well. Where are you getting the o-ring from. Any chance you have a part number you can share?

I used an O ring and believe it was a 309. It has only been a short time, but hasn't leaked yet.

That is the size I was considering but was unsure if it would compress down enough to fit in. Thanks for the input. I think I will go ahead and order one since I can't find this size locally anywhere. Kind of an odd-ball with such a small ID but a thick cross section.

I'll check tomorrow. I had to buy a whole bag.

Never hurts to have extra o-rings. Thanks!
