My uncle bought a 5085E MFD and cab. As far as pto hp and manuverability it is a nice little tractor. However it is like a green painted squirrel with its guts hanging out. I don't like the low hanging hydraulic lines that are just waiting to get snagged while mowing. The hydraulics are also a little loud. I think open center. Don't seem to flow like a waterloo row crop.

What are you going to be using the tractor for? Craig C hit the nail on the head pretty much. They are good tractors and pretty reliable. Just like everything there are places they could be improved on. I like them for light duty things like raking or tedding.

In my opinion, the "square fendered" tractors don't hold their paint too well. On the family farm in GA, we have 17 John Deere models and none are of this model range (5003, 5e, 5d)...however, there are two 5525s that are worked to death by the cowhands that have held up beautifully. Also, on the vegetable farm I work on, we have a 5065m MFWD cabbed tractor that is a real beauty. However, the "m's" are much more expensive than the "e's".
