I’ve searched and read as many posts as I can find on the topic of going from 34’s to 38’s on a 4020. The 4020 has 3 3/8” diameter axles. I understand that there are step up wheels that will utilize my original cast centers and then I have seen where there are cast centers for 38’s. I have a set of rear cast wheels and rims that are 38 inch and well weighted. They are casting number R41020 the axle wedges that are with these wheels have a larger axle bore like 3 5/8” or so. The 4020 wedges won’t work in the R41020 wheels the tapered hole in the center of the 38” cast wheel is larger. My question is does John Deere make wedges for the R41020 wheel with a 3 3/8” axle bore so I can use them on the 4020 :?:

The centers you have are most likely from a 4440.Most salvage yards would have correct ones from a 4320 for instance.I personally thought it would work as the wedges I have been around are smaller in axle diameter but have a thicker outside circumfrance.Step up rims are a good alternative.Tx. Jim will know correct answer as he has access to many correct parts applications.

The only info I have access to is the parts catalog. Correct 38 cast center for 4020 is R48954 WHEEL 1 ((A) (C) AND 4000 SERIES) (15.5-38 OR 18.4-38 TIRE AND RIM) (SUB FOR R33430)
According to my "where used search" the R48594 fit the following tractors.

In searching JD parts I find no reference to the casting # R41020. I've looked in all the footnotes for 4020's,4320's 4440's & 4640's. Do you have any idea which model they came off of????? Can you get me a casting # off the wedges that came with them??

In dont know what the wheels are off of. When I google that casting number I find reference to 4620, 4050, 5020 and 4630. I got the wheels from a guy here in Alva, Ok. that used to own the John Deere dealership. He said if the wedges with the wheels I got from him wouldn't work I could use the wedges from my 4020. But the wedges from my 4020 are smaller on the outside. The larger portion of the cone shape bore in the wheel measures 5 1/4" on the 4020 and 6" on the wheels I have with casting number R41020. I would guess that the wheels mentioned above that are correct will measure 5 1/4"
