1939 John Deere Model A

I'm afraid to say that I was watching your dogs more than I was you. Mine does the same thing, they have to watch and see what you are doing.
By the way, you work much faster than I do!

Steve

Looked like the way you were dresses it was way cold there. Its hard to work on anything when its freezing outside. Good job guys.

Yeah, my dog does love to watch and "help". Or so he thinks.... And yes, it was very cold! It was 12 degrees F while we were putting it back together. I was just getting tired of waiting around for spring!

Can U tell me what that slanted pipe is, thats going from somewhere near the air stack back to a fitted hole in the casting above the block. Its JUSt forward of the pin shaft that holds the casting that has a rod running to the carb, and the casting has the tin piece that has a rod running to the gas lever.

I can see it on your tractor. It looks a bit bent, and runs at a slant. The hole it goes into is around 1in or 1 1/4in and is threaded, and runs agout that much back in. Its capped by the casting at the back.

I think you are referring to the breather connected to the governor. I am not completely sure about that though--I'm sure someone here will be able to give you an exact answer. This year of tractor is kind of special. The 39 is basically an unstyled tractor with styled sheet metal. The motor and everything is just like an unstyled A, the only real difference is the radiator and everything connected to the radiator. It's kind of neat where it's a hybrid between the machines >40 and <38, yet unique to 39.

KY Ive lilely got a 39 also. What does yours say on the stamped sudo tag beside the A-1140 R number. Mine says 82-36. 6 Could be an 8, Im missing the part I described I saw in your pic. I got to get a fan shaft also. I have 2 that came with it, But, looking in my I & T manual its got around 3 doz pieces, and ive only got about 1 doz. So, Id rather just buy a whole shaft with all the guts in/on it along with whatever part it is I saw on yours when I get the shaft if p[ossible.
