35 A oil pump gears

Im trying to find oil pump gears for a 35 unstyled A. Ive checked with a few different places, including the YT parts department with no luck. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Which pump do you have? Detwilers has had the early type. Don't know about later ones. Try Deere?? Or Melling or some of the other suppliers of oil pumps for rebuilding shops.

The oil pump that I need is simply a drive gear and an idler gear that are in the side of the crank case behind the flywheel. Deere and YT both tell me the part has been discontinued. Thanks for the leads

OK, Does your tractor have a serial number? Will you post it? Should be 414025 or less. Sounds like you have the early model with the oil pump in the side of the main case, not in the bottom. Yes? NO?

The first three of the serial number is 423, I cant remember the last three off the top of my head. The gears are in the side of the crank case, right behind the flywheel.

Welcome to the pretty exclusive club of open fan shaft owners. You have one of the first design JD model A tractors. It may still have the open fan shaft or it could have been converted to later style, as it had problems breaking the water pipe. The main case and oil pump system are unique to that set of tractors. The later ones had the pump driven off the cam shaft. I think the gear that you are looking for is A 495 R. I had mine all apart about 15 years ago, how time gets on!, so I don't recall how that gear is fixed to pump gear/shaft. I think that gear runs on the same one that drives the cam, which is part of the crank assembly, not listed as a separate part. I guess by now you figured out that you are looking for rare parts. Very early model A standards used same parts. The Wes Malcomb book on Unstyled A's has a lot of detail of the differences in these early tractors. Mine has an interesting implement mounting rig attached to it and is lifted by the power lift. It is too nice cutting, welding and fit to have been farmer done. I suspect it was a JD experimental unit. Try email me direct for more. How bad is the gear you have? George S.
