value of '52 A

I"m going to look at a "52 Model A for my son. The tractor was repainted about 15 years ago, stock motor, alternator, no 3-pt arms, non roll-a-matic. Front tires are brand new, rears are old but functional. It"s a complete, good running tractor and the sheetmetal is pretty good. What"s a rough idea of value in Texas?

Thanks,
Clint

People told me I was crazy for paying $2,300 for a '49 A at an auction in northern Illinois 6-8 years ago. I don't see it that way... I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Mine is in what sounds to be the same general condition as the one you describe.

But, ain't EVERYTHING bigger in Texas?

Among other things to check, I would try to find out if the transmission has any shifting issues.
Like, jumps out of some gears, not others.
Like, won't go in reverse sometimes.

We bought <a href="http://youtu.be/EM7n1ANxcAk">"52" our 52A</a> about four years ago in Greenville, TX for $2000.

It had a JD #5 sickle mower and 3pt lift.

Used it to power a <a href="http://youtu.be/kJNe6cd183k">JD 39N sickle mower</a> at one time.

Used it to <a href="http://youtu.be/tVb-GByTHM8">disk the hayfield</a> and other fields several times.

Used it last Spring to <a href="http://youtu.be/C-ZHy0tgmBc">spread Tifton 9 Bahia seed</a> down in the bottom.

Used it last Summer to mow several areas on the farm.

Used it last week with a blade to smooth a couple of areas in the bottom.

The main problem with the tractor was locking in 2nd gear.

Got that repaired and have had no problems since.

Hope this helps.

Bought this 46 Long Hood "A" in Ft Worth about 8 years ago. It has super straight sheet metal and was missing only the generator and the shutters. Very little wear. Aftermarket muffler and air intake pipe (which I will replace) All three origional lights. Fresh holes in the draw bar/not egg shaped and small. Fresh straight serial tag. got it for $1,700.00 Foud it here in photo ads.

$1500-2500 seems to be the range for an A or B. Sounds like yours is in the $2000 range.

Thanks guys........that's kind of where I was thinking. He's asking $2000 and I think it's worth close to that in this area. A friend bought one similar two years ago here for $2500. I'm going to look at it this weekend. I've got a '45 A right now that I pull but I want to set me 9 yr-old up with a low gear tractor.
