145 146 Loader

What are the specifics of the differences between the 145 & 146? I know they're minor. Looking to put one on a 2630.

If a 145 were for sale for $1500 and a 146 for $2500, is there any reason the 145 wouldn't do everything you want with $1000 to spare?

Thanks

One of the main differences is in the mounting frame. 145 bolts to side plates and 146 bolts to side fame and then goes all the way back under axle housings. Buckets are identical and boom cylinders are virtually the same diameter(1.998" for 145 & 2.044" for 146). I have a friend in custom rd bale hauling business and he has 2 2440's(1 has a 145 & 1 has a 146).

Thanks for correcting me. All the 146's I remembered seeing had the axle mounts but after further research I found you were correct.

MOUNTING FRAME, MID-MOUNT ( -015308)

MOUNTING FRAME, MID-MOUNT (025301- )

MOUNTING FRAME, REAR ATTACH (015309-022700)

MOUNTING FRAME, REAR ATTACH (022701-025300)

I forgot to list the other rear attach series. My 2440/146
had the rear attach, and I found it odd that they went
back to the midmount on the last series. Possibly a cost
cutting move.

According to the SN break I posted after SN 015309-025301 the dealer could order the loader with either mounting frame. After 025301 you're correct.

Thanks for the info guys. Other than the possible differences in mounting and the lift cylinders, are any other dimensions different? Does the 146 stick out a little farther or reach and inch higher? It seems odd for JD to make two loaders 99% the same.

Thanks
