1929 GP mystery lever?

I just bought a real nice 1929 GP and to the left there is a lever that you can move left and right with a control rod that goes into the trans case. You can move the lever left and right when the tractor if both off and running and it does not feel or sound like it engages anything.

Does anyone know what this lever is for?

It engages the pto if your tractor was equipt with one.

Ok Mark thanks. My tractor doesn't have a pto, that's kinda weird that they still put the lever there.

Mark is right. My 1929 GP had the same lever for the PTO that did nothing as we also did not have the shaft.
