Howdy All--

Can someone direct me on how change the rear wheel spacing on a 3010?

Do I have to have the wheel off the ground to move it?

For some reason it seems like it could be quick and easy or a long and painful job. Hoping for q&e......

Thank you in advance.

You could check the archives as that's been discussed many times.

Jack up wheel, apply abundant amt. of your favorite penetrating oil, loosen 3 larger bolts on center, tighten 2 smaller bolts. If wedge moves(which is unlikely if it hasn't been moved lately),turn jack screw(bolt that is sideways to the other bolts. It wedge is stuck rap on end of axle with a very large hammer and try to tighten 2 small bolts some more so wedge comes loose.

(quoted from post at 17:52:01 05/02/11) all good advice but you need to loosen the 3 cap screws on the inside also, they hold the other hub

Only if the way I outlined won't work because of rust or stuck jack bolt!!!! The wedge when loosened with bolts on the outside will move far enough for the wheel to be moved easily .

I reset wheel settings on many new & used JD tractors back in the 60's/-80's and never loosened the 3 inside bolts you referred to.

i did to when i worked for JD dealer but tractors were new then now are 40 to 50 years old and lots of rust. you ever see F1500 cast centers cracked from center out thats from trying to get them loose with out loosening the inside bolts

Yes I've seen F1500 centers cracked but that doesn't prove that they were cracked from failure to loosen inside bolts on wedges. While working for JD dealer I also reset rear wheel tread widths on used 2 cylinders that I'm sure had rust without loosening inside 3 bolts. I'm not stating don't loosen inside bolts just stating that I didn't except if jack bolt was frozen.
