The front bolt on the steering box/housing is inside the crankcase - I have it tight now - the rear bolt is loose on mine - is it a stud into the main case? It looks like it aligns perfectly with the separation wall between the crankcase and the transmission.I think it is a stud that is broken off at the top of the main case and I will have to lift off the steering shaft unit to remove the broken stud - what I have not done is removed the shift cover to see if the bolt head is in there.

They're both studs.
