Clutch lever will not stay in gear. Tried tightening the 3 adjusting bolts. No change. Could this be somethinga major? Thanks.

Does it snap in when you push the lever forward?
If not, you could possibly have the clutch adjustment too tight already.

When you push the clutch lever forward, there is a very slight bump felt when it goes forward. Then it vibrates back out of gear. There is a cotter pin through each adjusting bolt/nut to keep it tight. Thanks

I would guess it has something to do with the fork on the backside of the clutch assembly. To pull it out you remove the panel next to the cluch pad and it will pull out.

Or it could possibly be worn clutch pads, but you would still be able to produce the pop, but the tractor just wouldn't move (when running) or would move much slower than normal.

I would start with the pads because they are the easiest thing to begin with.

Why was there no change..?? Are the threads worn so badly that the nut is just slipping over the threads..?? To see for sure, you could temporarily double-nut, or washer the nuts, to see if they engage the threads better.. BUT, if they are worn that badly, the BOLTS AND the Nuts need replaced...

Ron..
