2020 Diesel Engine Weight

Awhile back, I posted a couple of times on resleeving a JD 2020. The general consensus then was to split the tractor and pull the engine for an overhaul. I've done that and am now ready to hang the engine on a stand but mine is only rated for 1000 lbs and the arms won't spread far enough to fit the bolt pattern. I am confident I can fab some new arms but was wondering if anyone can provide the dry weight of a 4 cyl, 202 ci diesel. I'd rather not buy another stand unless absolutely necessary since I probably won't use it for another ten years...<LOL>.

In addition, where is the block casting number usually located? I can't find anything in the manual to reference it.

Thx, Hollis

The 2020 engine is "not" engine stand friendly, the rear adapter needs to come off to deal with crank shaft removal, as well as the front section too, the only place left is the 3 side bolt holes that are 1/2" in a triangle shape, it will work out but not well, I made a plate to bolt on them there and welded an adapter to that to fit the engine stand side ways, keeping the weld on a bit towards the top to help with the balance as you rotate it.

Tim,

I now see what you mean. Went out tonight and studied the engine; it almost looks like a cradle would be better than a stand because the side plates could have a shaft pivot and allow it to spin end-for-end. That would allow the necessary access to all areas and be safe to handle.

Thanks again...H
