unstyled A tappet oiler

Just got the unstyled A all back together and running. Complete engine overhaul. Not getting oil to the valve cover through the pipe from govenor, how much oil should there be there,is it under pressure. Pipe is clean. Took it off at valve cover and very little oil after half hr. run time. Took it out of govenor and started tractor, some oil splash from hole in govenor but not a lot. Is this normal or fo I have to go looking for the oil .

Did you have the governor apart during this overhaul? If not the trough that collects the oil splash from the governor drive gear may very likely be partially filled with sludge and not delivering it's full capacity to the oil pipe. It is splash lubricated, gravity feed to the tappets. If they get too much oil it can cause engine to smoke and loss of oil over time, particularly if the valve to guide clearance is worn.
They get very little oil anyway, even when all components are in "like new" condition, and it does take some time for the oil to appear after all of the components have been cleaned out.
Others on here will likely have more detailed info than me and can expand on this more.
Hope this helps.

the amount of oil should be very small. if it has been all cleaned the oil coming from govenor may take awile to trickle down to valve cover. i squrit some fresh oil in tube at valve cover on new or fresh engins this should be more than enough until the splash tray in gov. supplies oil.
