The barge wagon is on 953 JD gears with hydraulic lift, newer tires in above average condition, 6' x 12'. Neighbor has one for sale and I need a fair value for possibly purchasing it.

Thanks,

Randy G

Good 953 running gear with good tires should be worth at least 500-750 dollars, add good grain bed ($500) and hydraulic lift ($600-800) etc. As a total package it should be worth at least $1000 if you really want or need it. Low ball offer of $800 might work if barges are not used or popular in your area. Not many people use these wagons for grain unless they are picking some corn. Large grain mules are the norm in most areas. Check out TractorHouse and see if any are on sale there. Good luck. I have hauled a lot of corn, wheat, milo, and oats in these wagons and loved having the hoists to unload into elevators. Would not mind having one for old time sake even though I don't have much use for it.

I would think $750 to $850 would be a fair price but I don"t think it"s worth any more than that. I think you could buy a good gear and build a new bed for $800.

AGAIN??

I've never asked this question before! I, like most people, do not want to pay too much for any item I purchase. I understand the concept of " It's worth what what you pay for it". I just wanted an educated approximation of the value. You provided that and I thank you. This site , I thought, was an opportunity for the uneducated to get educated by the experienced to encourage new enthusiasts. They do not know the things most on this site do. At one point we were all stupid until some one took the time and patients to teach us.
