To Tim S and others. Continuation of previous post about my 3010 diesel that will not start after sitting for 5 months in the barn.
TimS, My email is open under the Modern View of the Forum.
Worked on the 3010 this past weekend. Performed the following troubleshooting:
- Tried to start the tractor on ether as suggested by TimS. When the ether was injected while cranking the engine, it changed sound like it wanted to start but it would not. Tried repeatedly without success.
- Disconnected output line on fuel pump and cranked the engine. Fuel came streamig out so the fuel pump is good.
- Disconnected the injector pump input line and cranked the engine. Fuel came streaming out. Line from fuel pump, through fuel filter, to injector pump is good.
- Disconnected the return line coming out of the injector pump and checked the elbow fitting for a blockage. Everything clear. Cranked the engine and fuel came streaming out. Put it all back together.
-Loosened the fuel line on the injector pump going to one of the cylinder injectors and cranked the engine. No fuel came out of the loosened line.
Diagnosis thus far is fuel is getting to and from the injector pump but nothing is flowing through the injector pump to the cylinder injectors. Appears to be a blockage or a stuck shutoff valve inside the injector pump.
Any more trouble shooting I can do without removing the injector pump?
Getting ready to leave town for two weeks so may not be able to try things that are suggested until I return.
Looking for all the help I can get.
Thanks.
JimmyJim
