unstyled fuel tanks

Is the tank on a unstyled A the same width as an unstyled B? I would expect them to be different, but just checking. Are unstyled B tanks filler spots in the same spot (off set) as an unstyled A tank?

What is the correct width of a tank (and thus the hood) on an unstyled A?

I have a hood that doesn't fit and the place I bought it from says they test fit every hood and I am wondering if there is any chance I have an unstyled B tank on my unstyled A tractor.

Thanks.

My Data Book says the A had a 14 gal. main tank and the B had a 12. The Aux. tank is 1 Gal on both. This list the years as 34-40 on the A and 35-38 on the B. That is the best I can do.

Acording to my parts book for the unstyled B there are 4 different part numbers for the fuel tank. AB 357 R, Ser. # 1000-1509 AB 419 R, #1510-42199, AB 1108 R #42200-59999, AB 606 R to #325000. I can't locate my unstyled A parts book right now. Probably out in the shop. Hope this helps.

They are not the same width. I just measured my 36 A and the tank is about 10 1/2" wide at the rear of the tank. I don't have an unstyled B hood or tank to measure.
Hope this helps.

Pat, there was indeed 4 fuel tanks on the A and B unstyled tractors, I think the first 1000 or so Bs had the center fill, all of the 34 As and maybe all of the 35 As had center fill as well. The A tank was larger in width also, accomodating a couple more gallons of fuel. Hope this helps. J
