1982 jd 3130 (us2840) transmission case screen

Can anyone tell me where exactly the transmission inlet screen is on a european 3130? I've bought an IT shop service manual for the 2840 as i couldn't get a 3130 manual and it doesn't show the sceen in the book. it says it is under a square head plug to the rear of the oil filter. i've looked at mine and can't see any plug.

does the filter have to be removed to access this plug or is it located somewhere else on the 3130??

any help as usual is greatly appreciated :D

Allen, If your haveing hydro problems there is a strong chance that you have a cracked or spit oil pipe in the center near the trans pump. If you get in there check back with me I have installed an orfice in the trans lube port that I think helps these a lot..also you may have brake lineing deteriating and cloging up the screen, this can turn into a real problem...good luck

I'm suspecting a cracked pipe alright from the symptoms i've got so far. I've had my fair share of leaks so far and when i get one problem fixed something else comes up.

I'm gonna check all the simple things first before i get stuck into a big job and a big bill again.

thanks for all the replys and advice
