All of a sudden my 420W will not start. It will crank. Here is what happen.Last time I started it about 3 weeks ago I drained the gas out of the bowl and let it shut off that way, never switching the switch on the dash to the off position.I always put a trickle charge on her and it was on like that for at least 3 weeks with the switch on the dash in the ON position.I went to start it the other day and it just cranked but would not start.I check the fuse and it was blown.I have put another fuse in but as soon as I turn the switch on for a second than the fuse will blow.I am thinking maybe coil or regulator.Has this ever happened to anyone else. Thanks

I would have to agree with burning up the coil

Looking at the 420 wiring diagram, it would appear that the voltage regulator is your grounded point causing it to blow fuses. Could be a stuck contact, or the VR could be toast.

Disconnect the BAT wire from the voltage regulator. If the fuse doesn't blow, problem is with the VR.

You burnt the coil up by leaving the switch on

Disconnect the hot wire from the coil.
turn the switch on.
If it doesn't blow, you know it's the coil.
