Fuel filter sediment bowl

I ran across this little NAPA filter (#3943) and thought it looked like it might make a neat set-up to help keep my fuel cleaner. It needs a rubber grommet on the housing inlet to seal to the filter inlet and a small spring at the bottom to hold the filter tight to the grommet.

Posted this on the Farmall forum and I found out that it"s really dumb to try to keep fuel any cleaner than the original sediment bowl screen set-up. Another disadvantage that was pointed out was that the filter would have to be replaced - to expensive I guess.

It"s just an idea that looks good to me and I think the cleaner you can keep your fuel, the better. If no one agrees that"s fine and if someone wants to try the filter that"s fine too.

Id rather err on the side of too clean versus too dirty fuel. I LIKE THOSE SEDIMENT BOWLS MYSELF. I figure so long as theyre not so restrictive theres insufficient fuel flow, THE MORE FILTERING THE BETTER. A sediment bowl works cuz gravity makes water or rust particles etc settle to the bottom versus up an down to the carb, so that extra paper filter provides just another degree of filtration YA GOTTA LIKE THAT.

I always applied a light coat of grease to the gaskets and a tad of anti sieze on the nut threads so removal even a year later is a piece of cake. Also those paper filter replacements or even gaskets ARE RELATIVELY CHEAP MAINTENANCE FAR AS IM CONCERNED. I just dont see many down sides to extra filtration provided again theres plenty of fuel flow.

That was posted here a long time ago. It sounds like a good idea to me ? but I never tried it either.

I use the NAPA 3039 filter. Doesn't
need the spring or rubber seal, just the usual cork gasket. Works great and never had any problems.

The NAPA 3034 or WIX 33034 comes with gasket just in case you ever want to change that out too...

I'm with JohnT as far as cleanest fuel possible goes, and I want the water to drop to the outside and stay in the bottom instead of soaking the filter paper if at all possible. I've yet to get one and see how that works out.

With no screening at all, fuel flow gets high enough to stir up the chunks lying in the bottom and I no like much.
