unstyled a spark plug tube

I am working on an unstyled a and was curious about the spark plug wire tube. With a SN of 416xxx, shouldn't the tube go all the way up and over and bolt to the rails?

Anybody have one with a fan shaft tube clamp that they want to sell?

Thanks.

mine just had a short tube with flare at ends. look on frame if no threaded holes by plugs then short one is right

A's up to SN 424024 had no conduit of any kind, just a cable clamp than held the two wires close together. From SN 424025-438176 they used the short tube with flared ends, and from 438177 on they used the full shield that attached to the frame. I like the looks of the full shield myself no matter the serial number, but that is the "correct police" version of what was used.

So since yours never had one send the info my way. Mine is 449---late '37 and uses the full length bolted to frame type and I only need the right hand half. Will buy complete though if have to. Mine was broken at clamp but can weld up if can only get half.

What type of clamp? Was it similar to what clamps onto the fan shaft tube? Any chance you have a picture of it?

Thanks.

I don't have any pictures of one and can't say that I have paid close attention to that detail but I think it is just a simple two piece clamp with rubber insert and one screw in the middle. Seems like I've seen them just mounted on the wires near the magneto and that is it. I will try to look in a period correct parts book and see what they show later today. Am at work and can't spend much time on here right now.
