I've got a early 4430 I acquired. Guy said it had a blowed head gasket. There was no oil or water in it. It had been sitting for several years without either of them. Pulled the head off and had checked, didnt really see anything wrong with it but I coulda missed it. Got it all put back together and started. Run for about 5 mins then locked up. Pulled pan and almost all the mains were galled up and several rod bearings trashed. It had oil while running. What woulda caused the bearings to mess up? Sitting with no oil? Having antifreeze in the oil at one time?

It may have been run with antifreeze in the oil before you got it. If the rest of the 4430 is in good shape, it may be worth rebuilding the motor.

It's easy to have 20/20 hind sight but I would have invested in an oil pan gasket. Then looked at the bottom end before starting. The tractor was parked for a significant reason.
