Finally got the old girl to how I want her. New field and road firestones are on there way, but all the sheetmetal painted, weights, tach, brackets for powr-trol, culitavator plates, endless on what I did to it, now its time to use it and enjoy! I will get the rest of my tractors out and get a group photo in the next couple of days. 2cylinder

nice............very nice. i've never seen that type of fenders before.

one day i'll have mine done but, as you know, it's a slow process. and besides, with it being a hobby, every moment put into restoring should be an enjoyable one instead of being on a timeclock. i do enough of that at work.

Your tractor looks pretty nice. One thing I noticed about it that you might want to check is how the distributor is turned. It appears your timing is set pretty late. Most times these tractors run their best when the spark plug wire towers are very near to horizontal. Yours look pointed down quite a bit. Either it is timed late or the governor is out of time. May be something to check. Mike

Rebuilt or not, I would have a manual shut-off on the fuel anyway..

Just ONE time you hit the starter and it shoots Gasoline into the rafters and you will have one on your, too..!!!

BTDT,,!!

i also noticed that, but it is set at 5 degress btdc retarted at 600 rpm, and the gov. is dead on timing , had it apart beacuse the dist. was not horizontal to the tractor ands the gov. was in great shape, it runs like one should and is timed perfect so im goin to leave it alone, just cuz it looks different does'nt always mean it wrong, each tractor is different

I didn't mean to pick on your tractor. All of the tractors I have worked on over the years would show that distributor to be timed late. I guess I am a little confused when you say 5 degrees BTDC retarded. If your governor slot and your flywheel slots were not both horizontal your governor is out of time, regardless of what the timing marks say. Mike

i know what your saying, i just don't know what else to do, everything is how it suppose to be and marks are lined up?

Hi, Was wondering who made your signs that you have on the tractor with the info? Wanted to get some made up here for mine before the shows start up this year,
Thanks for any info,

Below is how mine looks and it is set dead at TDC at idle.
I know what happened to mine, I took the governor off to repair it then when I put it back on I got it in the wrong teeth. The only effect it has that I can see is the position of the distributor. One of these days I may take it back apart and fix it right but probably no time soon.

Hey Frog - The position of your distributor comes in handy in rainy weather! I can't recall the number of times the earlier 2-cyl tractors would foul out in the rain! Even in the movie "Cider House Rules", the old "G" they had belt-driving the press died when they did a rain scene. Of course, the owner helped them by installing a rubber boot over the magneto - the very same, universal fix used by farmers for many years! (PatB)
