Hey guys, my 3020 is acting somewhat strange. The tractor will rev up with out me using the throttle (increase rpms) and will not idle. After a few times of playing with the throttle it will go back to working perfectly. Is something catching in the throttle linkage? or is something going on with the pump?

Thanks, Thats what i was thinking but the old man didn't believe me haha go figure. Well it will have to wait till after planting, we use it on our seed tender. Thanks.

I have a 1964 4020 diesel that does the same thing occasionally. Does the overhaul of the injector pump need to be done by Ma Deere or can I do it with the necessary parts. Is any calibration involved? Thanks

Best to have it done by someone trained to do it. There are a lot of things that only an experience rebuilder would see that the untrained could easily miss. Running the pump on a test stand is necessary for a number of reasons, setting the timing advance curve being one. While you are at it, have the latest governor weight retainer installed. It no longer has the pesky plastic ring that goes bad and causes a lot of problems. That should end any future problems from occuring in the future.
