John Deere 2150 Hyd. Leak.....????

Have a John Deere 2150 that is leaking hydraulic fluid from the left rear lift arm. What would be the most likely cause, and hard to repair? Thanks for any help that anyone can provide. I don't have a lot of experience with this tractor.

Load control shaft seal leaking. You need to drain hyd oil & R&R seals on both sides.

Jim how hard is it ti replace the shaft and all?

No need to replace the shaft unless there is a groove worn in it. Its a fairly easy fix. Drain the fluid, remove your lift arms, tap on side of the pin through untill you can remove the seal and replace. Tap the pin back through and do the other side.

and select agriculture tractors and then select parts, then go to view parts catalog. This has been a good site for me. The new style seals are easy to install. Make sure use the recommended hydraulic oil.

Guys I went to take a look at the tractor today. Anyway there doesn't seem to be any of the felt washers on either side, also there is not any washers just the bushing. The shaft does have a slight grove in it. I was also told there was seals in the chassis but I didn't see any and it didn't look like there should be any. What keeps the fluid from leaking out? There is at least a 1/2 inch play in the shaft from left to right. Meaning that the shaft can move left to right with out any thing to prevent it. Read in the shop manual to place washers of some type to take up play. Can some one explain this to me? Right now there is a bushing with pin going thru it then a sleeve and that's it. Ordered the parts just wants some advise before I try to repair it.

If you look inside the bushings there is a groove that the seal is in/goes in. IMHO opinion if you can feel a groove in load control shaft it needs to be replaced pat # L26932 shaft. You need to shim the 3pt draft arms snug with these R43216 THRUSTWASHER.

Jim, thanks very much for the info! I want this fixed right and not have a problem with it in the future because of going half way with it. I got a price for the shaft, bushings, and sleeves for 136.00. Its on order just need to get a few of the washers now. Again you have always been a lot of help in the past thanks very much! I bought this tractor on your suggestion and he has been a very good one. It had less than 5,000 hours and looked new, plus new 8ply tires on the rear for 6,500 was a good buy I think.
