was out snooping around my cousin's junk before the iron man cut it up and noticed under some junk and pipe was a green disk, 16-18' wide. It has some new blades and bearings on it, but was too big for his 4020 and was rusty so he didn't want it. Gave him 2 cases of beer, and went home and disked 6 acres of oat ground with it. Anybody tell me anything about these disks? The wings are gone, has a big ring hitch which I put a clevis in. Did a good job for me. It says "FWA" on top of the center pipe, didn't notice any serial tags anywhere, know Deere put them on just about everything though.

that FWA would be the model, you can download the parts manual from jdparts.com. I am not familiar with the FWA but we had a RWA and it was an awesome disc. I bought another one recently to use with my 70 and 720.

This thing doesn't flop around like a KBA, the front and rear gangs are solid and rigid, but the front and rear gangs can pivot in the center of the disk. I see in their parts books that there is a FWA and a FW, anybody know the difference?

IIRC the FW was built 1961 back and FWA was built 1962 forward same as TW & TWA.BW & BWA. The "A" stood for later model.

In PC 494 - FW and FWA Disk Harrows - 30Aug01 the frame appears to resemble or be similar to a JD AW disk that allowed rear disk gangs to pivot(flex) on a center pipe

Hey thanks! Happy with the way it did up my oat ground, may keep it around and sell the KBA.
