value of 1952 AR

My friend's father has an AR that he bought new in 1952. I'm going to buy it and I would like to pay fair market value. I don't think he knows what it's worth and neither do I (I'm an Ih type of guy) Apparently it should run but it's been sitting for three or four years. Rubber was replaced somewhere along the way. That's all I know. I have to haul it about 120 miles. How much would you pay assuming we can't get it started but assuming it's not seized

I know of one that sold for $3100 back in December (In Wisconsin) in running condition. The carb was leaking and needed rebuilding, the sheetmetal was fair (a few dents, and some rust spots) The rears were about 85-90% with weather cracking on one, the fronts were shot. Hope this helps.

I'd like to think more in the range of from US$1800 to US$2400 with good sheet metal, and depending on how it runs out once started. There were quite a few of those in that region so I have come to understand. (PatB)

I bought a 1950 AR in Ontario for $2000 Canadian last fall.It ran well, fair tires, a few dings and light rust except on the lower fender areas which were rusted through which is quite typical on the AR.

$2500-$3000 would be fair unless it"s close to last production then it might go a little higher at an auction, live east of Edmonton.
