I am replacing all the transmission bearings and in removing the bearing from the countershaft,I broke the thrust washer. Iam making a new one but need to know if it was pressed on the shoulder behind the bearing or if it just slips on and the bearing keeps it in place.
This would be part number 41 on page 81 of the parts catalog. material seems to be cast ductile iron.

don't understand your description of thrust washer? Are you speaking of the bearing collar that screws on the from the outside. All this does is hold the shaft in place inside the bearing inner race. It just needs to be snugged up and edge tapped down in the spline so it can't rotate loose. The lower side cover with adjustable shims is what keeps shaft tight.

I mean the thrust washer that goes behind the
pressed on bearing on the right side of the countershaft.

understand the issue now...as I recall in working on the B/s,520/530 this washer slides over and the press fit of the inner race holds it firmly up against shaft. I know how you broke now with puller. This is a special type washer and should be available from a parts tractor ie or new from JD...I've always heated the inner race a little and worked off...kinda tricky...
