Hello:
Im looking for some help on determining the value of a 44 JD A. Narrow front w-rolo matic, factory electric start, add on 3-point hitch, add on dealer power steering, Has good sheet metal & fenders. new wiring harness. new front & rear tires, new radiator, & rebuilt carb. Any info would be a big help.

Thanks.

Good news if you are buying, bad news if selling.
At an auction a month ago in eastern Iowa a war time A (mid 40's) sold for $750. It was a nice tractor with an older restoration and would not take a lot of work to make it a show tractor if you wanted to. I don’t think the after market add-ons would add a lot to the value.
Enjoy the hobby,
Kent

I sold my 44' A just after Christmas last year. $1,000. Hand start, pressed steel wheels older resto. Needed a botched sleeve in the right hand cylinder corrected and a piston. Ran very good but smoked due to the sleeve. We both felt that price was fair.

The 44 A I am describing has a asking price of $2000. I have been looking for a while and have looked at least 20 different JD tractors varying from 1000 up to 2500. This 44 A is in the best shape & running cond I have seen so far. So is $2000 asking price way out of line. Im located in Michigan and it seems the antique JD prices are a little high here for some reason. I have looked at several non running JD As and it was a $1000 firm.

At $2000 I would walk away and not look back. In my opinion the market does not deserve that price unless it is a really nice tractor. Look for auctions in your area or neighboring states if it’s not to far a drive. I get the Wisconsin State Farmer which list most every farm auction in Wisconsin and surrounding states and their may be a web sight or paper that covers Michigan.
Good luck in your search,
Kent

i payed about 2200 for a 43 hand start with a rebuilt engine and new radiator decent tin @ an expo auction and thought i did alright.

I paid $2000 for an early 47 slant dash. After completion, 6K invested. 2000-2500 seems like a going price around where I live.

I would buy them all day long at $1000 if they were available.

After. In all fairness, the before picture was before the previous owner got it running. I overhauled the engine, new tires, tons of small items, and paint.
