'36 B two questions

I have a '36 B that was my grandpas. I have two questions about it. First, I have bought a set of front steel wheels to replace the cut-offs. I need to put in bearing races and new felts. However, I do not know the order in which stuff goes in. Does anyone have a drawing or something that shows how everyting goes in?
Second, I see lots of people advertising flat back PTO covers, and was wondering if you have to replace the PTO shaft if you change from a powerlift to the flatback. Thanks for the help.

For your second question I'm pretty sure the shaft is the same. I just checked my B parts catalog and there is only one PTO shaft listed (B307R).

you need to buy the owners, operators and parts manual for your tractor. don't mess something up until you gert the books. why do you want to change the back. if its just leaking oil out the pto shaft thats an ease fix.

Don't just assume that I do not know what I am doing. That is just being a jerk.

I have a '37 A with a flat back and would like them to be the same. As for the wheels, I just can't have the tractor apart for weeks if I do not have the parts for the new wheels.

Frankly, I do not even know why I am explaining this to you.

That is what I saw in the parts book too, but I know that the flatback is smaller. I will see what else I can find out about it...

John the pto shaft on the power lift models is two shafts and couplers it does not show in the unsyeled book because it was not even made yet look in forty and up book its in there i think i have a shaft to go with flat back that i have four sale Kent

John, remove cap, cotter pin & nut. Pull off wheel and compare. Inside felts, dust cover(if any) and race will usually transfer if needed. Clean up & regrease. Reverse process to go together. I swapped my A steel fronts to clean & paint the spares last night. Steel is hard to keep pretty. easy

Thanks for the reply. I will just have to take one off next time I am at the farm. I figured that they would be the same since the front cutoffs used to be steel wheels.

All of the B front wheels, steel or rounds, are exactly the same internally as built. You have to watch when you buy wheels that it's not repaired or messed up and then requires shims, etc. I like to get the bearings and caps with the wheels to keep the greasy & protected or at least inspect the cups that they are not rusty.

from the old jerk, if you knew what your doing then why ask the question. i tried to help and don't apprecaite your reply. getting the manuals is an every day reply from lots of people on a lot of different things.
