unstyled B fan and shroud

Run into another snag on the B. I replaced the fan because it was cracked. Wanting to stay original I replaced it with another with the rubber bushing in the center. The fan is to big to go through the shroud. I had another so I tried it. it to is to big for the shroud. I thought all those old fans with the rubber bushing would be the same for unstyled B's. I am going to have to cut the fan down a 1/2 " on all the blades for it to work. What do yall think. Will it work?

Unstyled fans are smaller than those on styled tractors, at least on styled tractors with the 175cuin. engine. I would consider converting it to the late style disc-clutch fan if you can find parts. You will have to cut-down the ends of the fan blades to get the right diameter. Other-wise, find a good rubber mount unstyled fan hub and use it.

Here's a guess for you -- when I built the UnStyled HNH tractor, the Model "H" fan fit into the UnStyled Model B fan shroud just fine. Perhaps a fan off a JD-H will fill the bill for you! Just a wild thought. (PatB)
