whats the best model of jd around 100 hp with the soundgard cab after the 4020 any year clear up to brand new going to buy a new tractor whether it is new or used and am wondering what models and years where the most trouble free i can possibly get a 4030 with a 148 loader for around 12 or 13 thousand in the spring but really what closer to 100 hp pto power

Skip the 4030/loader, they have weak side frames,,A 4230 or 4240would be much better , a little more $$ but much better in the long run

I think the best would be a 4050 with the 466 or 4055. Mostly mechanical and reliable machines. 50 or 55 series is something I would like to have in my barn one day.

where are the weak spots do they crack of break or what this tractor is my wifes uncle that died and his wife is going to sell us this tractor and the narrow front end 3020 my wife grandpa bought new but if the 4030 has a weak frame may not want to buy will mainly be a baler tractor and a planting tractor and the loader will be used to move have out of field and to load trucks have a feed truck to feed hay everyday during the winter for the cows

once we get it, its not going to leave the family sorry its going to be are new rake tractor it has sit most of the last 8 years and it still starts right up and has pretty low hours the batteries are dead now but i pulled it about 4 foot and if fired right off with no ether damn good old diesel tractor though just wish it would have stayed with us instead of wifes uncle getting it and letting it sit

the 4030's frame is weak at the rear end of the frame rail, very diferent from a 4230/4240, most of the 4030's that come through my shop with loaders have problems in this area, of course if you use lightly you may not have any trouble but the possibility is there

4040 is a good tractor. We bought it brand new. We still have it and still orignal. we been using just about everyday. 4040 do everything on farm work. it got loader on it and we have no problem with it. 4040 is my first tractor i drove when i was little boy. now i am 34 still drive 4040.

The best would be IMHO a 4055 but in the price range you mentioned you'll be looking at a 4230. The 4230's have starting issues that are managable but are good tractors otherwise.

I'd say as far as operator comfort and ease of use the newest models on the market for 2009 are likely the best.

So depending on how much money you have to spend ? buy the newest one you can afford.
if you can only get a 30 series fine if you have enough for a 40 series good and if you can go 50 or 55 or even newer all the better.

I personally would stay away from any 30 series tractor,i havent had much good luck with mine plus i think they are hard on fuel and they dont start the best in cold weather. My 4040 on the other hand is very fuel efficent and starts well in cold weather. We pull 4/16s with it and it mixes feed everyday for my hungry holstiens.

price really isnt a problem i just want a good tractor and i know the new ones are more comfortable and have more features but i want a good realiable tractor that will be problem free and the newer ones like for instance a 6420 which i love the tractor but it seems cheap used one helping a friend but it was 2 years old and sensors were going out and it wouldnt shift then the light switch broke i just want a good tractor
