Ummm,
I am much more familiar with the Farmall line, and you cannot even give International Harvester weights away.

When I look for the 3 peice front weight set for the 630,730 people are asking waaaaaaaaay too much money in my humble opinion.

Can someone explain it?

Or is as simple as it seems. JD produced very very very very very very few weight sets.

Kicking myself, they had a set at auction on saturday sitting on a pallet, and I was like, pffft. Thinking they would go for 50-100 bucks. So I did not even stick around, as I thought I could easily pick up a set another time. I am learning...

There use to be someone making reproductions not too long ago. You could even get them in cast aluminum for parade tractors. Much easier to handle.

I paid $300 fifteen years ago when the going price appeared to be around $500. Wouldn't think of asking less than $800. A 1000 rpm PTO adapter kit brought $1000 ten years ago. A couple of hoses and adapters for a second remote brought $500 several years ago. Unique parts command higher prices.

I like your suggestion. I could hang a dozen free farmall weights off the front, if I fashion a long pole to slide them all onto, ha ha.

There is a reproduction front center piece (does not have the 2 side pieces) on ebay, and he is wanting around $275 plus $80 shipping. So, the reproductions sell for the same high price.

I know unique parts, even on Farmalls sell for a pretty penny. Like the Behlens Power Steering units go for $500 if you want to add it to your Farmall M or Farmall H.

But weights? I hardly find weights to be "unique", ha ha.

Well, I think people have trepidation to sell lower than a thousand dollars for the weight set, cause they think if they sell it for say $500. That the purchaser is simply out to be a middle man and resell it himself for the $1000.

That is the fear that drives the prices and people holding onto them I think. Probably applies to alot of for sale items.

Yep, it still means because other people are greedy, i'm greedy in that i'd rather hang on to my item rather than sell it for less. Guess we're all greedy. Ha!

I have a late model B and made a weight carrier very easily out of angle iron up each side then a cross piece with support to the 2 studs in the frt. pedestal. Looks very nice on there with my stack of compact tractor suitcase weights.
