1020 hour meter

My tach works fine, but the hour meter in it doesn't. Stuck on 5505. Has been forever(at least 25 years).
Is it worth pulling apart to try and fix?
 
I dont think you can fix an hour meter. You have to buy a new tachometer. If you can find one cheap it will be good.

My hour meter is the same. I recently had it and the circuit board that it plugs into out and resoldered all the circuit board connections because I was chasing another electrical problem and hoped that it would right the meter at the same time if the fault lay within one of those joints. But no luck there, it still doesn't work.

I haven't yet given up on it completely and I'll take it out again and have another "play" with it. If I have any success I will get back here and let you know.

As I said in my earler post here, I have a simmilar problem.

I removed my meter again today and what I found was the main drive gear from the small motor that drives the clockwork mechanism of the hour meter is stripped. Also the gear wheel that is driven by the main gear wheel has got two gear teeth missing also.

So the motor is turning OK, but the drive goes nowhere due to the condition of the gear wheels.

This problem probabley only applies to electonic type tacho/hour meters.

It would be a very difficult repair, unless an instrument maker or fitter would be prepared to tackle the repair. Very difficult but not impossible is how I would describe it.
