the starter on my 51 a took a dump is/was gonna cost $245 to rebuild cant find any in the local bone yards found one from a 620 bolts right on had to wire up a push button problem is it rolls it over just not fast enough to start got the battery charger on it right now to see if the battery might just be low any other suggestions? the 620 ran when they started parting it out.

Those A starters are still around, the one in my 1949 A had bad windings so I bought a good one on eBay for $60.00 and sold my old one as a parts or fix starter on here and got $27.00 for it. If you need a good starter, try putting a wanted ad in the Classified Ads on the left, you might find one there. Good luck.

What do you mean, "took a dump". Have you done anything with it yet? I had a similar problem a while back and my "tractor family" came to the rescue. I put new brushes in it, cleaned up the commutator and *poof* good as new. I'd never done it before. Took 30 minutes and about $8.
