read op manual for 3800 p 50 talks about spacers to seperate upper feed rolls. where does on buy them ? not in parts catalogue. also feed roll filler as shown. i remember
that some choppers put flat plate over bottom rollers but this was not mentioned. any help would be appreciated. also what size recutter screen was used.

Size screen depends on how fine and what you are chopping. Corn silage I would not think you would need a screen. Hay maybe though we never used a screen for anything but ground ear corn. Then We used a 3/4 inch hole screen. That worked great on the NI Uni making ground ear corn about like ground feed from a mill. Hay was about 2 inches long and corn silage was about an inch or just less.

I did some looking and did not find them. You will need them. I had to install a set in my 3940 when we did earlage with it. Also we cut a sheet of plastic and attached it under the feedrolls. Basically it acted as a pan to keep from leaking so much corn on the ground when chopping. Do not chop to wet as the material will go through the screen and pile up before it reaches the cross auger. It would kill 170 hp real fast. Also those corn heads drive hard. Use a good quality USA heavy chain. We found Diamond lasted the longest. Earlage is very good feed. We made a 7x150 silage bag each year for the dairy cows. Tom

The plastic blocks on Ebay are for 3940-3960 ect. For the front feedrolls on a 38 or 3800 there is a rubber bumper that is usually missing. I would guess you would need to add a spacer there for the front rolls. Are you on a 38 or a 3800? I was at a consignment sale today and there was a very late model 3800. On the rear feed rolls there were some brackets that would be used to raise your roll. Would take some unbolting and moving after the spring pressure was removed. I am going to post some pics in another reply as the pics are on my phone and it is easier to reply on my computer. Tom

Try these.
