Freeman Front Loader HydraulicSeals

Hi all,

I have a Freeman (model 601) front loader with a trip bucket. The seals on the hydraulic cylinders need replaced, but I'm having a hard time finding out for sure which are the correct replacements. Has anybody run into this before? Is there a kit that can be purchased?

I believe Bush Hog purchased Freeman and these loaders were manufactured as the model 2000 in later years. But I'm having trouble finding info for those too.

Thanks in advance

If memory serves me right, they had a stacked packing and you had to turn the end cap tighter to crush them down tighter. You might try that before you look for parts that aren't what you think they are. Might be a different model had what I'm thinking of, but better check it out.

I've been had by the bug of ambition.....

I wish I'd have thought of that before I took them apart. There was a fibrous packing in there that pretty much disintegrated when disassembled the cap. I'm afraid now I don't have much choice but to replace.

I may have been able to find what I need through McMaster-Carr. Thanks for the response.

I took my seal cap to a big-time hydraulic repair shop and the counter guy just walked away - came back with the packing material and told me how to assemble it. What I thought was going to be a big deal turned out to be an ordinary fix for someone who knew hydraulics.
