New Holland Super 1049 bale wagon

Both manifold gaskets are leaking on my 1049 bale wagon. We are able to get the bolts on the bottom of the manifold loose, but the bolts on the top are TIGHT. Have been spraying Kroil on them for days and a mechanic friend has tried an induction heater on them, but no luck yet. He isn't too keen on using a torch. Has anyone else run into this problem? We are thinking we may have to pull the engine, then if we do twist off some bolts, we can drill them out. Also, there were sheet metal covers over the manifold which I assume were there to keep dust and chaff off of the manifold and spark plug area. When we are using it, I take it to the shop every day and clean dust etc off with the air hose. But when we took the sheet metal covers off, there was still dust, chaff under them. We are thinking about leaving these sheet metal covers off so we can blow it out often and be sure to get it clean. Any ideas on these problems??

well it is a normal situation to have them manifold bolts seized. you are wasting time waiting on a spray to loosen bolts. that just does not happen. there is other ways to loosed bolts. plus shields are in place for a reason. dont leave them off you will be having a fire. that would be the 318 dodge engine from the 1970's from what i remember. what are u meaning by top and bottom bolts. the manifold bolts in the head are in one line. maybe try an air punch on them and vibrate them . maybe try loosening them with the engine hot. trying to loosen 50 year old bolts is not easy, and u may have to bit the bullet and remove the heads if they break cause they wont be drilling them out free hand in a machine shop. maybe try an air impact on them also with out full power.

Rustred, Thanks for the hints and ideas. We will try them, but agree that some may need drilled out. The engine is a Ford 361 cu in. The guy helping me called it an FE (I think) engine. I don't know what that means - will have to ask him.

Just cut the heads off with a torch. Manifold bolts. If cant heat and get them out just melt them out. Also heads will come off a FE Ford without taking intake and distributor out. Just loosen intake a little. About 20 min a side.
