NH 340 mixer mill

Bought one last week at a consignment auction. Similar to a 350 mill , but this one is stripped down. has no dust collector, suppliment hopper loading auger or swinging unloading auger. Never had these items, no evidence that anything has been cut off. looks like it is designed to unload directly into a feed bunk. Search didn't turn up much info other than it shares parts with the 350. Is this what a 340 was or was this stripped down design an option?

Our old 350 had all the things you mention swinging load auger and swinging unload auger. The screen sets over the shaft on the left infront of the big belt pulley and supplement box was in the back beside and below the ladder, There is an adjustable slide for the unloading auger at the tank slope too. dust collector was on the front by the mill. I always wondered how much it really helped. I never thought there was that much dust coming out the top. We ground corn oats hay wheat and even put high moisture ear corn through it mixed with dry shelled corn.

The 340 was just a striped down mill for smaller farmers or people on a budget. I have seen maybe a dozen in all my years of going to sales. NH made good grinder mixers. Dad had a new 352 and I had one for the first 10 years we milked cows. Tom

The dust collector was for the fan, and the fan to help draw material through, so it's rare to see a hammermill without one. Wonder how well this one actually worked????

Thanks for the info. This is the first one I have ever seen. Thought it had been stripped down and was junk. Bought it for the jack and tires [good tires already off]. But really in good shape, way too good to scrap. Much better than the 350 we have had for close to 40 years. Still in use but only grind about a gravity box of cob corn a month.
