There is a rod that runs crossways in back of the knotters. In the middle of it is a metal flap pointing downward with a hole in it for a spring. Im needing to know where the other end of that spring hooks onto. Pics would be fantastic. Detailed description would be great. Thank you.

40 years ago that spring broke and dad looked for 7 minutes where it is supposed to hook on. He couldnt find anything so found a wire made a loop and hooked the
remaining spring to the wire loop.
Baler worked last week still that way, all these years. I just remember it because dad was frustrated trying to find the attach point.
Im curious to find the answer to your question.

Sounds to me like what you're talking about is the rod for the twine fingers. The spring hooks on the one of the knotter frames on my 273.

I also notice that your pic of the spring hooked onto the knotter frame shows it has a inch or so long shank from the end of the coils to the hook. Mine dont. The end points of the hooks are like a hairs width from the coils I can hook it to the back piece easily enough, but theres no way that I could hook it to the knotter frame without bending the hell out of one end to make it work.
