John deere 494 corn planter

I see your issue; the manual page I located on line stops at about 30k, as no one planted more than that back in the
day!

Not familar with a Deere planter but if the sprockets happen to be the same tooth count as on a later planter like maybe an early 7000 you might be able to use those settings. Or at least for a trial run in the driveway for count. For 32000 seeds per acre on 30 inch rows you need 1.84 seeds per foot. For a 30000 plant stand with a 95% germ and 10% loss you need to plant 35088 at 5.96 inches apart. This is from 2 different sources. Your results may be different than the information posted.

Yes I was going try to set it like that. I might just plant oats this year tinker with it this summer try n get it right. Price of seed corn and fertilizer I would hate to screw up.

Yes the little research I have done I might have put bigger drive tires on or change up socket sizes. Or I might just pass on this 494 and find a 400 cyclo air at least I know something about those and they are pretty simple

Use this chart, run the planter on a hard surface so it doesn't bury the seeds, then adjust the planter sprockets and transmission
until you get the right results. Yes, some of those had a transmission that you could shift to change the shaft speed. There's a
lever on the shaft on the side of the main gearbox. There are three slots that you can lift the lever and slide it sideways to, to
change speeds.

To me the 494 is pretty simple, know nothing about the air planters, doesn't sound like something I would want if I was still farming.
