Can anyone tell me the differences between the JD 506 and the 606 rotary cutter (bush hog) (No gear box cover with the number on it.). I need to ID the gear box so I can replace the seal while replacing the impact slip clutches as the gear box is leaking grease oil.

It appears that they used the same gearbox on both the 5' and 6' cutters. I show a part# JDPM37463. Better check with your friendly JD dealer. Price that I see is $8.99.

Several yrs ago bottom seal started leaking on my JD 709 rotary cutter so I put Corn head lube in the gearcase. I still haven't replaced lower seal.

AN121759 @$22.23 is seal part# I see in JD parts for 606 input shaft. Slip clutch plates are part # W39301 @$12.79 each
PM37463 is described as liquid gasket.

606 parts catalog states they were manufactured from '78-'88 but doesn't state where. I'm fairly confident they were built in the JD factory in Welland Ontario,Canada

OK, Thanks, I like to get parts from the original source if I can, sometimes a company quits selling the parts after they quit selling a rebadged product, Sears put people through hades that way for years, (and got what they deserved).
