Just Picked up a New Holland 892, It has the electric controls. But they can't find the controller box, It also has a metal detector. I can't get the head to engage. I have power to it but I can't get it to go?

Trying to remember dont they use a little electric motor to engage the clutch for the feed rolls? Possible motor is bad or clutch plates in gearbox slipping? I assume your running a power and ground from the tractor battery being you dont have the control box. How heavy of a wire are you using to power motor?

I ran the ground right from my battery. It has the metal detector, I know nothing about it. How can I get rid of it, looks like it takes a different controller?

I had an 892 for decades. Without metal detector. The electric control for header reverser can be turned by hand to engage or change directions. There is an exposed shaft coming out of the electric motor that turns an eccentric bushing to change directions. You can turn it with your fingers or a pliers, chopper not running of course.
