Damn good balers. The inline balers are the
only way to go if making small squares.I
run a 1838 which is a little less capacity
than the 1840.Thinking of trading it for a
1840.

Thanks for the reply. My buddy runs a couple of JD348's now but the service in our area is getting bad. Dealer changed owners and its not good, more than likely store is going to close. so, he is looking at the 1840 as replacements.

I ran a Deere 337 for years.Still have it
as a backup. The Deere's are good balers but
the inlines are superior in every way.As
far as dealer support most of the wear
parts are readily available on the net.I do
all my own repairs so can't really speak to
dealer service and repair other than it's
expensive. But a mechanic worth his salt
will not have much trouble figuring out an
inline baler. For example the knotters on
the Hesston inlines are basically the same
as the Deere and NH balers.

Thanks, there will be a learning curve, he will also be going from wire to twine. I have only ever worked on one twine baler around here and he has never seen one in action.
